I purchased this polarizing filter for my Sony HC96. The Sony store at the mall did not have it in stock and the Sony website was also out of stock. Either it's a popular item or Sony didn't produce a large volume of it. Anyway, it took Amazon at least a couple of weeks to ship it. I took the filter on my trip to Yosemite. It did just as advertised --- made the sky more blue and removed light reflections from glass windows and water surfaces. If you want to keep the reflections for visual effect, you just have to rotate the lens out of the effective meridian. The protective lens that came with the filter was handy, too. At first, I didn't know why I would need it because I justed wanted a polarizing filter. It turns out that it's good for protecting the camera lens from wind/dust and water spray from the waterfalls when the polarizing filter is off the camera. It seems pricy (), maybe because it's a Sony or because it's not a popular item. I'd say it's not useful for most occasions, esp. indoors. It's a luxury item for outdoor shots as a hobby.
